Casa África, Punta Camorro, Tarifa
Sleeps 6
Casa África is located in a relatively unknown area of Tarifa, even to the locals, Punta Camorro. Once a military zone it is now a secluded country track that brings you right to the edge of Spanish land, to the protected Straits of Gibraltar Park, and a stones throw from Morocco. It is one of the few places in Tarifa so near to the shore, at just 100m away, one that is so empty it almost feels like your own. It is the ideal destination for a family looking for relaxation, privacy and a unique experience in an area of supreme natural beauty.
The house at 100sqm² sleeps six people comfortably in three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The open plan kitchen/living room has been designed to make the most of the magnificent view and to give the space a wonderfully light, bright and warm feeling; a light that is so distinctive, and for which the coast gets its name Costa de la Luz (Coast of Light). The house cleverly combines the best of the modern with the old; and the thick walls ensure that it remains cool even at the height of summer.
There is a large private garden with terraces and a shaded area, for respite from the strong midday sun. It is surrounded by 5,000m² of grassy cliff-top gardens with vistas that defy belief. A 210 degreeº panoramic view of two continents; the Atlantic ocean, and the Mediterranean sea, complete with dolphins diving and the most important bird migration routes from Europe to Africa passing directly overhead. Amazing to be this remote, so enconsced in nature, yet only 3km/8 minute drive to Tarifa town!
This is an eco-house that is completely autonomous producing electricity from the wind and sun; water comes from the local springs; and why not pick your own vegetables from Paco's magnificent kitchen garden.....your carbon footprint will be minimal!

Car rental
I would recommend a car that is slightly higher off the ground, such as a Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Partner something of this kind or even just the simple Fiat Panda. Family estate cars can sometimes be very low to the ground and I would definitely never rent a sports car they do not suit the Tarifa roads.

Guest Reviews
Living just down the coast from Tarifa I have been there many times & thought I knew it rather well. However, the area where the house is located was a real surprise, tucked away and off the proverbial beaten track, it was exactly what we had hoped for.
The views over to africa must be the most spectacular along that coastline and the tranquility of the property was second to none. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway amidst beautiful scenery, then this is most definitely the place to be!
Many thanks to Paco who couldn´t have been any more helpful :-)

A lovely little villa over-looking Morocco... and we even spotted some whales while we were here!
Secluded, relaxed, simple but contemporary and clean decor - a perfect place to stay for us while we spent most of the day kite-surfing and would return late afternoon to relax, have Bbqs and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Although we drove everywhere (to the beaches etc) it didn't bother us as we were looking for a hideaway, far from people!

I booked this for a special break with my husband for his birthday. The house is stunning - magnificent views and a wonderful rustic homely feel with plenty of relaxing outdoor space - the window in the lounge is just as it is shown in the pictures - you can sit inside with a glass of wine watching the ships sailing through the strait and the lights flickering over in Morocco. October was still very warm, a great escape from the British winter and although we did have some windy days it didn't bother us - you can always find a sheltered spot. Tarifa is a lovely town and it is well worth walking there along the coast for a night out as there are lots of bars and interesting and very authentic restaurants...just be sure to avoid the cows on the way home! Although the coast by the house is not sandy there are some lovely beaches to visit just a short drive away (you can fish from the rocks below the house just don't expect to catch much - would be better out on a boat)! Thanks I'm sure we will be booking again at some point in the future.

Casa Africa is situated in a spot of particular magic and beauty: The surrounding nature reserve, the location on the narrowest part of the Strait of Gibraltar with the stunning view to Morocco and the passing cargo ships and the tranquility of the place which is only accompanied by the wind, the low humming of the ships in the far background and some birds and dogs make it a unique retreat for relaxation and meditation. At the same time the vibrant life of Tarifa and its beaches are close by.
The house is simple, but tasteful, charming and decorated with love for detail.

This place is amazing. 5 star accommodation with 5 star views accross to africa. Many relaxing evenings spent looking at that! Tarifa is is a ten minute drive or half hour walk along the coast, although you feel as if you're in the middle of nowhere when back at the villa.

“I have only good words for this amazing, unforgettable, incomparable house in Tarifa. My girlfriend and I spent a week last summer and it was one of the best trips I have ever had. A great place for quietness and peacefulness, not far from town, but away from the crowds. Great taste in decoration and style. The owner was very kind showing us around and pointing out the do’s and don’ts in the area - he built the house himself with the help of a local builder. There is even a vegetable garden that we were able to help out with and try too!!!
This would be a great place to come as a family. The sea is right next to the house, with almost private access..Atlantic Ocean... I’m missing it already...”
